Travel With Your Mountaineer Family

Each year, the WVU Alumni Association is proud to offer alumni and friends travel opportunities to exotic destinations around the world. As a member of the WVU Alumni Association, you will be given unique opportunities to take part in these educational programs.

Alumni and friends have enjoyed trips to the Greek Isles, Holland, England, Orlando, Phoenix and New Orleans. In 2004-05, alumni and friends traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to cheer the men's basketball team to victory during the "Elite Eight" and to Jacksonville, Fla., to watch the Mountaineer football team take on the Florida State Seminoles.

GREAT JOURNEY THROUGH EUROPE
SWITZERLAND - FRANCE - GERMANY - HOLLAND
June 14 - 28, 2008

No river evokes the romance of Europe more than the Rhine. From its source high in the Swiss Alps to its delta in the North Sea; it traces a course past castles perched atop lofty crags, idyllic villages of half-timbered houses, terraced vineyards, soaring Gothic cathedrals and the mythical Lorelei Rock. The Rhine is steeped in history as was immortalized in the writings of German Romantic poet Heinrich Heime.

Please join the WVU Alumni Association and alumni from other Big East Conference schools on a nine-night journey of discovery through the heart of the Alps along the storied Rhine River via a unique combination of rail and river travel.

You will begin by spending four days exploring Europe’s majestic scenery in the Swiss resorts of Lucerne and Zermatt. Participants will gain an intimate perspective of this alpine wonderland on a cog railway ride up Mount Pilatus crossing the mountainous backbone of Switzerland aboard the celebrated Glacier Express, viewing the ice-carved pinnacle of the Matterhorn from Gornegrat Bahn. In Lucerne, individuals will enjoy two nights in the traditional chalet-style Hotel Schweizerhof.

Next, you will travel overland from Zermatt through the verdant countryside and medieval villages of Switzerland to Basel; cruising to Amsterdam aboard the deluxe MS Amadeus Princess, one of the finest ships sailing Europe’s waterways. Treasures of a river that has functioned as the cultural crossroads of half a continent—the meeting point of the Latin and Germanic worlds, will be viewed. Participants will walk where Roman legionaries once marched, they will stroll the narrow streets of medieval university towns where students still preserve tradition and stand before the spires of Cologne Cathedral—a monument from the Age of Faith. And, don’t forget to relax in a street side cafe and enjoy a refreshing glass of Reisling, the Rhine’s famous white wine.

Join us on this grand tour through the heart of Europe. Capacity is limited and this exceptional value sold out within weeks when last offered in 2007. So, please make your reservations now. Individuals can qualify for early booking savings if registered before November 30, 2007. Prices begin at $2,995 per person plus airfare. For more information, please call 1-800-922-3088.

See you in Europe!
