Robert L. Reynolds, a native of Clarksburg, W.Va., graduated from the West Virginia University College of Business and Economics in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, majoring in finance.

Reynolds is vice chairman and chief operating officer (COO) of privately owned Fidelity Investments, the largest mutual fund company in the United States. Fidelity Investments is the leading provider of workplace retirement savings plans and a leading online brokerage firm. In eleven years of running Fidelity's 401 (k) business, he helped grow the assets from $9 billion to $224 billion, making it the nation's largest 401 (k) manager measured by assets.

In addition to being COO and vice chairman, he is head of the Fidelity Management Committee and a member of the Board of Directors of FMR Corporation. He also serves as trustee for the Fidelity family of mutual funds as well as serves on the Board of Fidelity Investments Canada Limited.

Along his career path he was a trust officer at Wheeling Dollar Bank. He joined NCNB Corp. of Charlotte, NC, in 1977. He later became senior vice president of NCNB, now Bank of America. He was also executive vice president of Fidelity Management Trust Company and president of Fidelity Institutional Retirement Services Company.

Reynolds was a college football referee for 15 years. He currently serves on the WVU Foundation Board of Directors and was a WVU College of Business and Economics 41st Acordia/Royal & SunAlliance Distinguished Lecturer.

He has also served on the Board for the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City, the Board of Concord Museum, and the Board of Directors of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the American Cancer Society. His awards include Boston College President's Medal of Excellence, Investment News Power 25 Elite and Jaycee of the Year.
