Steve Douglas, president and chief executive officer of the WVU Alumni Association, has been a professional in the alumni relations/institutional advancement field since 1977, serving all but five years with the WVU Alumni Association.

Since being named executive director in 1988, he has led the Association to unprecedented Steve & Buck Byron growth. During his tenure, the annual operating budget of the WVU Alumni Association has more than doubled and investments and assets of the Association have increased by 500 percent.

Under his leadership, the WVU Alumni Association embarked on a $12 million building campaign to build a new alumni center—the second facility constructed under Douglas’ leadership. The Association also has been recognized as a pioneer in the field of technology and alumni service.

Steve is committed to furthering the cause of alumni relations on both a state and national level. He is a founding member and first president of the West Virginia Alumni Directors Association and served as regional trustee for the Council of Advancement and Support of Education. He previously served as chair and vice chair of the Big East Conference Alumni Professionals Organization.

Steve is only the seventh alumni director in an organization that was founded more than 125 years ago. He holds both a master’s degree and bachelor’s degree from WVU.

Steve and his wife, Jeannie, have two children: Ashley, a fifth-year pharmacy student at WVU, and Clark, a senior at Morgantown High and a member of WVU’s upcoming freshman class.
