Jim Bill Harvey, Treasurer
Jim Bill was born, grew up and attended high school in Oak Hill, W.Va He attended WVU
and WVIT from 1973-1979 earning Bachelor of Science degrees in Mining Engineering and Industrial Management. He then worked for eight years in the West Virginia coal mining industry before returning to WVU to earn a MBA in 1988.
Jim Bill has worked for McDonough Caperton and their subsequent owners including current employer Wells Fargo. He leads the Wells Fargo Insurance Services Energy and Mining Team which provides property and casualty, employee benefits, surety and financial services to the energy and mining industry worldwide. His team has been named the most profitable operation in the Mid-Atlantic region five times since 1997, and has twice been recognized as the most profitable operation within Wells Fargo Insurance Services countrywide.
Jim Bill is a Life and Old Gold member of the WVU Alumni Association, as well as a member of the Marmaduke Dent Society. He is a Mountaineer Scholar level member of the Mountaineer Athletic Club, member of the Jerry West Society, member of the All-American Society and the basketball Legacy Fund. Jim Bill started the Wells Fargo Energy Group scholarship within the Mining Engineering Department of the College of Engineering which continues to grow and will surpass $300,000 in 2012.
He serves on the Board of CEDAR (Coal Education Development and Resources) which works with teachers in grades 1-12 to help educate students in West Virginia, Virginia and Kentucky about the facts as it pertains to coal, the coal mining industry and its importance to the region. Jim Bill also supports the FCA in both Morgantown (WVU) and South Central West Virginia.
Jim Bill and his wife, Sharon, live in Bristol, Va., but also have a place in Morgantown where they spend much of their time, especially during football and basketball seasons.
