Charles David Brown - Vice Chair
Charles David "Charlie" Brown's career has taken him to Thailand, South Korea and China. He is senior director of corporate responsibility compliance for Nike.
During his more than 24 years with the company, Charlie has held numerous positions, including development manager for the team that created the first Nike Air Jordan basketball shoe and the first Nike cross trainer shoe. Most recently, he created and developed Nikeís first global footwear product integrity organization. He also led the expansion of the China manufacturing operation base, helping the unit grow from 400,000 pairs of shoes per month to more than four million per month.
While working in Guangzhou, China, Charlie established the American Chamber of Commerce and served as the organizationís first president. Before joining Nike, Charlie was a financial analyst for the trust department of Security National Bank in Wheeling, W.Va.
Charlie grew up in Moundsville, W.Va. While a student at WVU, he was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity and served on the Student Government Association. In 1980, he graduated from the WVU College of Business and Economics with a degree in finance.
Charlie received a masterís degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix.
He is proud to be a life member of the WVU Alumni Association and a member of the Old Gold Club. He and his wife, Mary Beth, í81, BSN, live in Lake Oswego, Oregon, with their three sons: Colin, Nathan and David.
