At age 89, Lou Birurakis remains Mountaineer Strong
As a young boy, Lou Birurakis spent an abundance of time figuring out ways to watch WVU football. He sold Coca-Cola at games so he could watch his favorite team. And while Lou never played organized football growing up - he played at home with a milk can - he would become part of a team that eventually won the 1949 Sun Bowl. Hear more about Lou's story.
Mountaineers on a mission in Haiti
A group of Mountaineers participated in a medical mission to Haiti. During the five-day trip, members saw more than 1,200 Haitians in need of medical assistance. The group included: John Anderson ('70 BSBA); Marcia Hetzel Anderson ('72 BS English Ed); Catherine Greenwald Perry ('72 BS Elementary Ed); Shelly Marsh Hodges ('91 Pharmacy); Lora Higginbotham Hayes ('71 BSN); Rick Hayes ('70 BA Zoology, '74 MD); Emily Jeffrey ('99 Pharmacy); and Mark Painter ('14 Pharmacy).

Alumni Volunteers Help Recruit Future Mountaineers
Hundreds of West Virginia University graduates volunteer their time recruiting the next generation of Mountaineers through WVU's Old Gold, New Blue student recruitment program. New alumni chapter in Shanghai Extends WVU's Global Footprint
WVU grads never truly leave their alma mater behind. They constantly serve as ambassadors; always proudly carrying the Flying WV. That Mountaineer pride is felt all over the world, thanks to the efforts of international graduates. The University recently helped to officially launch the Shanghai Chapter of the WVU Alumni Association to bring graduates together and provide opportunities for them to become more involved in the life of WVU.
